AhlulBayt News Agency: Tens of thousands of Palestinians gathered for Friday prayer at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem, despite heightened Israeli security measures that severely restricted access to the holy site.
Local sources reported that Israeli occupation police forces set up numerous checkpoints and inspected the IDs of worshippers attempting to enter the Mosque. Many were denied entry altogether, according to eyewitnesses.
The increased security presence comes amid growing concerns over Israeli occupation policies against the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Palestinian religious and public figures have reiterated calls for intensifying the Palestinian presence at Al-Aqsa in protection of the holy site, to counter the escalating threats, including settler incursions facilitated by Israeli occupation authorities.
The Jerusalem Governorate issued a warning about planned provocations by far-right Israeli groups, referred to as “Temple Organizations,” who have called for mass storming of Al-Aqsa next Monday to mark the anniversary of Israel’s occupation of East Jerusalem, 58 years ago.
The situation remains tense as calls for international attention and protection of religious freedoms at Al-Aqsa intensify.
